Hi, I'm Sharlene and this is my husband Grant (of 33 years and counting!) I am the human behind Waionehu handmade home scents. I'm the creator and maker, I'm also the art, labelling, packaging, marketing and IT department.
I hope you love my deliciously scented wax wardrobe tablets, designed to make your wardrobes, cupboards and other small spaces smell great.
My Story
Always a creative spirit, my journey began with my mums sewing machine as a young girl. Years later (after studying fibre, fabric and fashion), I found myself immersed in bridal design, where I learned to craft wedding gowns from scratch.
Later I re-trained at ISCD Sydney and became an interior stylist and colour consultant.
In 2016, I founded The Wildflower Studio in Kiama, NSW, a flourishing florist business that I sold in 2022.
After a brief return to my husband's family farm in New Zealand, (where we grew veggies, made sourdough bread and ran workshops, explored fermentation and made scented wax wardrobe tablets - you can see this on Instagram), the sunny blue skies and warmth of Queensland and family beckoned.
In July 2025, seeking a new creative outlet, I rekindled my love for making scented wax tablets, bringing a practical but lovely product to retail stores around Australia (but still making for my special stockists in New Zealand too).
